Summer afternoon wake ups.
They were those lazy hazy summer afternoon wake ups, The windows open & the smell of fresh mown grass on the gentle breeze, Head still fuzzy from a night of drinking& night club liaisons, No work pressure or anything else pressing for the time being.
Pillow holding my held, Wrapping around my ear so I can hear the birds & insects, The breeze rustling through the branches stirring the leaves, Soft but firm enough to support my comfort, As my body slowly awakens from its deep slumber.
The light covers over my body shaped, Moulded over the space of hours to convey my body shape, Each fold carefully positioned, So that the body heat stayed close, & no breeze disturbed the temperature.
The mattress supporting my frame firm yet comfortable, Giving the weary body plenty of give so it could relax, The soft outline of a body impressed into it, So the sleeper eventually rolled into the time worn groove, Always finding the preferred position.
