Remember Each Style Operates in a Different way.
I will be Hacking at least One Style on Each of the Databases.
That Style will Include The MOD's and Tweaks/Hacks you like or Would like if it is viable.

The New Forums Databases will all be Backed Up on a Regular Basis.
Each Way point will Be stored in the Same Manner as The Original Database is:
Online and viewable for those with the right level of access.
The Upkeep of Which will Come from the Community Funds and Sponsors.

Security will be Improved for Members and Internal Board Security.
The Original Forum is Now getting near the point it is vulnerable if it isn't already so.
It is also in such a Custom State that Improvements and Upkeep is becoming problematic.
As some Members have Issues with Work or Home and need Privacy all of the Forums can accommodate a Secure Forum.
With the New Databases and Forums, and subsequently the New URLS:
Those Struggling with Work Filters or Firewalls may get a short reprieve and be able to post.

You may Register an account on all of the Above if You Wish.
Then you Can Post across the Full Extent of the Community.
Enjoying the Benefits of Multiple Databases and Forum Experiences.
Each Forums Sub Theme or Chosen Subject Area becoming a New Community.
Each New Database and Forum will be Shaped around you, the Members.

Or you may choose or select only One or Two of The New Forums.
As all Databases are hosted on the same server if you can view the site you should be able to post.
If you can get past the Domain Name and have the ability to accept cookies you can Log In.
If you Burn, Break or Eat a Cookie, we give you a new one for free.
(So if you do get Logging In Issues while using more than one Account/Forum/Database, CLEAN OUT YOUR COOKIES.)

The Cookies are automated, so nothing changes in what I do with them.
It stores the URL, account name, encrypted password and dates of last visit if I remember rightly.
It will have the name phpBB2 somewhere in it's name, you can then see the URL of the Database.Forum it is for.
If you break a Cookie and don't know how to clean it or you have other Issues Logging in:
Read The F.A.Q for phpBB forums, that is what it is there for.  Use it, don't pester me. Wink

I will do all I can so that each of you has a smooth transition onto the new Forum you choose.
Just open a new Account and in time if Required Post Counts, Spam Points and Even Slut Points will be returned.
(The old Archive will keep the record of what you had
- New Post count will be converted and added when Cash MOD is Installed)
All the Usual Stuff Like Avatars and Smileys will be added when the boards are active.
I want someone I can chat with while working =P

New Members should be more abundant with the New Forums opening and running.
It would be appreciated if Older Veteran members help educate any new comers in the fitting manner.
Should the vast choice split the Regular Posting Members up too much:
The Board that should be considered the "Main forum" is:
http://ganjataz.com/forum/phpBB2/index.php
Gen B2 - Stealth Project GT-R
This Forum will be the most like the One we currently have that is being archived.
It is classed as The Second Generation Of the Original Forum Started on the ganjataz.co.uk server in 2004
It is requested All Regulars and Moderators Register an account at this URL.
Gen B2 will be the place I want the same Community Spirit thriving because all the Regular Members and Web Team are Still there.

We will more than likely chat about this on the forum in between now and when he Archive is happening.
So all Questions or issues can be directed there on the forum about this or the issue you have.
That way every one can benefit from all the Questions and Answers being in one place so all can see.

Taz.

If you want to continue Being a Member of the Community and keep Posting - Register at The Boards mentioned above.

Anyone not using an account for 6 months and has under 10 posts gets cut.

The idea is trim users who are not involved with the community or have signed up for no reason.  Means Less Data needs to be called upon, more speed.

Do we have to sign up on every one of them to just post normaly everywhere?
Will they all be seperate forums instead of one big one with sub-forums (like now)?

Stop it spinning over this, nothing is actually happening for a month yet.

If you wanna post on all the boards, register at them all.
If you just wanna carry on using this place, but on a newer installed/set up foru just register at Gen B2.

In a sense, all I am doing is taking the different subject forums from here, and seperating them by catagory and starting them up as seperate forums.  So if you wanna play on all the bords, you will need an account on each one as no account will work for all of them.

Main Plan for all =

Register a new account at the Gen B2 Forum
(Place orders for Style you want including for your use and what Smileys you can't live without when you register the new account on that forum.)

If you like the other forums as well or see that you want the ability to post across all the forums so you can catch someone in particular who also hangs out there because of time zones or work issues etc etc etc , you can register for them all.

This forum --> Gen B2

Then join the others later if you have a need.

The idea is to break the load up, spread out the sections into more manageable bits.

Having it all in one database as it is, is part of the reason this is being done.
It's simply growing too fast and is hard to manage or even back up.

The big picture needs slicing up into smaller bits cos the strain is causing problems.

On Topic Section is just about Faithless and the Mini Faithless Fan site I play about with/run every now and then when I am feeling artistically inclined.  I just included skinning a Forum with it this time, but there is already a Off topic Section on that board for Members only Posting.  Each forum that has been set up can be configured so it suits the members.

Both can be done on same forum, so yes, same as here.

I think that when you split up these boards you'll loose members. I like the mix of different forums under one roof, so to say, and will not be keeping track when they are split over different locations. That will imply a loss of variety, and will likely result in my departure from all G.T. forums. Sad

I admit that caused me a little concern too, though taz...
I've made some friends here that I would love to keep, but they post mainly during the day when I'm working, and I can get away with having one window up, but not 4 or 5...

I'm relieved that genb will be similar to these boards, so maybe it won't be as split up as it sounds like it's gonna be...

I understand your position and stuff... I guess I'm just nervous about losing the tight knit feel this place has... it's one of the things I love about it here...

the ideal scenario is you all look at the new url options

Find one that everyone can post on a new database/forum

we all then move onto that and I will set up that forum like this one is now

we all continue posting in same manner with same feeling and community spirit

we gain a clean start database wise
we gain security
you get more style choices
you get more options
you can get people posting who can't now because of work filters

all that is being offered is a change or web site address really
& a chance for me to change the forum software and create a new clean database that can be frequently saved and stored
As well as somewhere I can reconfigure getting rid of some of the old MODs we no longer need or use

I think I have just given you all too many choices at once and some of you are sensing impending doom G.T's 'Darkball Thinking' Smiley.

we have about 30 solid posters

we have a few people now getting issues posting on this database/url/web site url

so as long as we get 30 - 40 new people all able to post on the same forum I don't care which URL you choose, I am happy either way as I need those databases and forums running for working with different Styles and Images.

I would like all who post here to stay in the group while you / we /. community moves

I am not trying to split the community down into different sections or cliques.

I've just themed the forums into what I think the URL and database would be best suited for
and also the different levels I can set for that style of forum

Some of you are more concerned about the standard out of the box software when I need you to look into the changes beyond that where the web site options are more important than a standard forum setting you can turn on or off in your USER CP.

We either do this change now at our leisure, or when something breaks or the security of this place fails in dramatic fashion where the shit hits the fan.

Either way, the other places are just safe zones where you can all rally once an issue happens or in the mean time you can all house hunt a new URL that works best for you.

Think of this whole change as shopping for housing, you are looking for the best neighbourhood for you both at work, home and college/school/whatever.
The URL or Web Site Address is the issue some have with work filters, sometimes changing it resolves the issues.

The new database is just a new empty plot we can pick up the best of the Forum and Move into a new Plot, but one  that is both an Upgrade and more Secure than what we have now.

The forum will only have fewer 'posting' members if people do not want to post any more
All non active users (6month or over) will be lost because they never replied when told a change that was community wide and account related via the mail you all got or should have got

Those people can sign up again as all you will do in the new Forum/database, so they should have done it when informed a change was afoot.

This change also gives us a chance to cut down on some of the old or out of date/screwed up information

Cutting down the fat and trimming off any unused or obsolete parts so the health and core of the forum runs faster, more efficient, more securely and all around much better.

The community is you people, not the post count or points.
If you are there and still talk and are who you are
Nothing else is the spirit you al seek and enjoy on the service I provide.

That is all that is changing, the service.
We are just changing electricity suppliers for want of a better expression,
The soul and emotions and friendhip factors cannot be affected by that change.

Some of you have provided funds for the better running and costs of the community so I am just trying to provide the best service I can for you, the community and me.

I am also trying to improve that service with the best of my abilities so new members are something we get more of, so we can increase membership and people that bring something into the community as you al have done.

The other forum styles that are themed will be used as front door Dorums for those Mini Sites or themes.  The Poetry Mini Site will have it's own Forum and Database, The Smiley Mini Site will Have it's own Forum and Database etc etc etc.

The community we are known as now "G.T's Forum' will always have a seperate Database for all you members.  You get moved first and dealt with first because this is wher I hang out with my friends.  You lot keep me sane and I started this so I can hang out in style, so wherever I set us up it will always be the best available at the time.

What I learn from setting us up in comfort and style I then use on the actual Web Site for stuff I create or make as an artist, webmaster Smiley maker or the other projects or work I do on my personal Web Site.
