Linking

You may Post these Smileys on forums freely.

By this I mean use the URL of the Smiley you are given when using the Click and Retrieve URL system used on this Website to place in-between a set of [html] or [bbcode] image tags, thus using my Smiley by taking up my Bandwidth, from My Server...  Free of Charge...  You may do so.

Long as you don't claim or imply you made it afterwards =P

The URL and Filename of the Smiley on My Server is enough to give me the proper credit or linkage required for that action.  I call that a fair price for the transaction and Terms of Use for that Specific use.  Save the Smiley to another Folder on another server/changing the filename or removing my name [ganjataz] from the final file extension] is breaching my Terms of use for this action.

 

If you would like to use them on a webpage then you must link to me using one of these banners / Display a Text Link [Smileys by G.T.] or [G.T's Smileys.] in a Prominent area where you intend to display my Smileys.

I think from the few HTML examples there are, combined with my URL getting system for my Smileys;

That it shouldn't take the brains of a rocket scientist to work out how to Copy and Paste the URL of one of My Smileys that you would rather use to Link back to me with, instead of using one of my pre-made/stock banners/buttons.

(and I'm also sure if you want to custom make a banner using one of my Smileys with text, that is also fine.)

Just make sure that the final image you display, links to my site when you click it, and is no smaller than this png.
(You may use another format of course.)

General Rule of Thumb.

Link to my site before you rip all my images "without" re-naming them:

So they at least have my name [ganjataz or G.T] in the final name extension.

Example; On your server it should read

phpbb/smiles/ganjataz-upyeah.gif

Not just ripped to a directory where you don't even credit who made them;

By including their name in the file name extension.

Example; On your server it should not read

phpbb/smiles/upyeah.gif

I Animated or Created them, Designed them or Cropped, Edited or made them Transparent, or otherwise altered them enough to claim some form of copyright be that sole or shared.  Be that just by leaving my name in the filename or posting a mention of their use in relation to their use is usually more than enough to avoid legal issues.  Any abuse of the well documented Terms of use will be met by a Polite request to stop doing whatever it is you are doing what this Webmaster feels is wrong or in breach of his Terms and why.  If that is not resolved then a legal approach to your web server and yourself will be the next step.

You people should know the drills, ask me if it is for any other use than to post briefly using my bandwidth to host the image for non profit making use.

Any venture or use where the image, Concept, Design or my Copyright is in question or should be earning money, then contact me before, or as soon as it is genuinely likely to be profitable:**

No changing file name extensions unless the image is going in a folder with my name on it, so again it still maintains my copyright name and given filename for that image. 

Or make sure both my name and the image name are in the final extension and you Place a Banner or Text Link in a Prominent Place wherever my Smileys are to be used or money is to be made in whatever media or format you are trying to use them in/on/with.

Extend me the courtesy I would you as a Webmaster, who knows Small links and showing who did what, or where you got the image etc from is a good thing that costs very little and takes little effort.

What is a Smiley?

A smiley is usually a small, sometimes animated image file called a GIF or a JPG/JPEG or a PNG.

They are used in personal E-Mails and on Internet Community Forums/Message Boards.

As well as being used on Web Sites and many other places across the world.

They are often known as Smileys, Smilies, Emotes, Emoticons, ICO/ICO's, Icons, Grins, Graemlins and a whole bunch of other names.

 

They are usually used for trying to convey an emotion or feeling, or just show a reaction.

Often for comedy moments or a Visual Sad or Happy response.

Although the Generic range is often just Plain Text Smileys.  They have evolved into a whole Sub Culture of their own.  Taking on characters and Features all of their own, each has become unique.  Each single Smiley can be either a single Frame image or a more Complex multi Frame Animation.  Multi Framed Smileys can do anything from a basic wink, right through to miniature cartoon like qualities.

My Smileys were Mainly Designed for use on Internet Forums, mainly my own and those that I post on.  They could however be used in Internet E-Mails using simple HTML.

As long as the File name is not changed they should work in most E-Mail Programs or Mail server/Web mail set ups that allow you to use URL for image addition via a script or pure HTML/BB tags.

This is also what I consider fair use of my Smileys.  You are changing nothing, and the credit is given because my name and address are kept with the Smiley.

If you save the File onto your own computer and are then forwarding it as an attachment, you must Include either my Web Address or name "Ganjataz" in the attachment name.  Including a link for the main smiley page would be appreciated.

You are not allowed to Use my Smileys on a Web Page without My express Permission or unless you Display a Text Link/Banner Back Link here.  They cannot also be used in any other form of Media unless you are following the Terms of Use for the Format or Use you are using them for.

When using My Smiley Packs please follow the Read Me file for the terms of their use etc.
